Are You Surviving or Thriving?
There’s a big difference between surviving and thriving. Don’t you agree?
If you’re in survival mode, you probably aren’t thriving. You’re likely going through the motions and getting by but not feeling fully satisfied and fulfilled with life. I bet it’s a struggle to find the energy you need to get through the week. I bet your mind, body, and emotions are feeling out of whack. I bet life feels like a constant battle, with constant overwhelm, letdown, disappointments, and frustrations.
There are lots of things that make it a challenge to thrive. Trauma, toxic stress, systemic racism, oppression, disasters, lack of equal opportunity, illness, death, and loss. Yes, all of those hard things make thriving hard. But thriving isn’t a given for anyone. It’s not something handed to you on a silver platter, no matter how much privilege and cushion you have in your life. Thriving is a state of being. It’s an outcome. Thriving requires your intentional engagement and commitment. And even though there are a lot of barriers to thriving that are out of your control, you have way more power and control than those barriers do.
I used to live in survival mode. My mental health was in the gutter. I was always tired, run-down, and fatigued. My body was a chronic point of distress, my relationships were dramatic and toxic, and I felt chronically unhappy and unfilfilled. I was miserable. But I dove in deep, did a lot of work on my shizzle, and committed to living this one wild and precious life that I’ve been gifted. Neuroscience, psychology, and yoga all proved to be valuable resources that helped me forge a path to thrive.
I’ve been practicing psychotherapy since 2006. I’ve been healing my trauma since 2003. And I’ve been studying yoga since 1997. I’ve learned a lot over the years about the habits, behaviors, and mindset that allow you to flourish. And I’m excited to share that with you in Thrive the Podcast.
I’m revamping my personal brand in 2024 and starting with this free resource. I’ll be dropping the podcast in February, and I couldn’t be any more excited to share this with you. Join me on this thrive journey, as I share wisdom from neuroscience, psychology, and spirituality to help you transform into your best self.
