Our Trauma Informed Basic Training program offers flexible online learning options. This program is a comprehensive 20-hour on-demand, asynchronous course taught by our expert instructors. You will earn a certificate of completion for each module completed.

Trauma Informed Basic Training includes 20 CE hours approved by NBCC & ACE. Below is a breakdown of hte modules and CE hours. Work through the modules in the order that best fits your needs!

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify the core features and symptoms of Complex Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD) that differentiate it from traditional Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
  2. Describe the impact of prolonged, repeated trauma on cognition, emotion, and memory.
  3. Analyze the interplay of attachment and trauma and how attachment is linked to Complex Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD).

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand and articulate a clear definition of dissociation in the context of mental health.
  2. Differentiate between and describe various signs and symptoms associative with dissociation, including depersonalization, derealization, dissociative amnesia, and identity disturbances.
  3. Explain the underlying causes of dissociative experiences and risk factors that may contribute to the development or exacerbation of dissociative symptoms.

  1. Appraise the research and identify at least two implications for psychological, physiological, social, and systemic consequences of generational trauma.
  2. List three ways generational trauma impacts communities.
  3. Analyze the role of an integrated approach and list three ways to address generational trauma.

  1. Describe the relationship between the vagus nerve and autonomic nervous system.
  2. List the three pathways of the autonomic nervous system and corresponding physiological and psychological characteristics.
  3. Analyze the role of the vagus nerve and autonomic nervous system in trauma responses.
  4. Assess how vagal tone contributes to health and wellness.

  4. Discuss how trauma can impact individuals across the lifespan, including its effects on cognitive, emotional, and social development.
  5. Discuss the prevalence and impact of trauma on special populations and communities.
  6. Demonstrate awareness of the cultural considerations and variation in the experience and expression of trauma.
  7. Identify key aspects of fostering post-traumatic growth across the lifespan.

Rebecca is a compassionate and authentic consultant, who has a keen sense for holding space, bringing levity to the heaviest of topics, and creating engaging learning experiences. She has specialties in mind-body techniques, dissociation, complex trauma, and ego-state work.

Amy Staley

LCSW, Kase & CO Program Manager
Amy has 19 years experience in social work, specializing in trauma. She utilizes a trauma informed approach not only in clinical care, but with a macro lens of the larger systems impacting the community. She brings a spicy energy with innovative ideas by thinking outside of traditional mental health structures, flows and processes.

Crystal Wildes

PsyD, LP, Training Faculty, Kase & CO CE Coordinator
Crystal has 15 years of experience working, training, and providing supervision/consultation in a variety of settings. She has specialty areas of trauma recovery, including having been trained in EMDR in 2012. She prides herself in being authentic and genuine in her approach to facilitate the learning experience.

Jessica Downs

MSW, LCSW, RYT, Kase & CO Trainer, Senior Faculty
Jessica is a LCSW. Before becoming a therapist, she taught high school among a highly traumatized population, where her inclination toward healing really took root. She specializes ego state work, complex trauma and dissociation. She is bilingual. She strives to support her clients in working towards becoming “whole”.

Alison Leslie

LCSW, SEP, Kase & CO Training Faculty
Alison approaches therapy through the lens of presence and attunement. Her specialties are animal-assisted therapy, EMDR, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, and Transforming Touch modalities. She believes in meeting the consultee where they are and supports their continued growth with openness, compassion, and curiosity.

Erika Yourdan

MA, LMFT-S, LAC, LCDC, Kase & CO Training Faculty
Erika is a LMFT, LAC, and a licensed chemical dependency counselor. In the therapy room, she holds space for individuals and families working through relational issues, addiction, attachment wounds, and complex trauma. Iindividuals can expect to be feel safe in a shame-free supportive environment.

20 CEs are available upon completion of all course material.

Kase & CO is an approved continuing education provider. ASWB & NBCC CEs are available for this course. This course is not approved for ACE, APA or EMDRIA CEs.

Upon completion of each module, you will have an opportunity to take a post-test and receive a certificate of completion.

Participants must complete each module to receive credit.

To receive the total credits available, participants must complete all modules in their entirety.

This course is available for viewing through the Kase & CO learning platform. This is an on-demand, virtual, asynchronous course. No portion of this course is provided synchronously.

Upon purchase you will have lifetime access to this course. 

No prerequisites required for this program.

To receive a certificate of completion, participants must view the video in its entirety, complete the post-test with a score of 80% or above, and complete their course evaluation.

If you do not pass the post-test you may retake it until you achieve a passing score.

Continuing Education

ACE Approved Provider

Kase & CO, #1869, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 1/16/2024 – 1/16/2025. Social workers completing this course receive 6 total credits clinical continuing education credits.

NBCC Approved Provider

Kase & CO has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7033. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Kase & CO is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
