Principles of Polyvagal Theory

Are you ready to unlock the secrets of Polyvagal Theory and revolutionize your therapeutic practice? Have you been eager to learn Polyvagal Theory but find it too dense and complex to understand? Does the neuroscience of this model leave you feeling bamboozled? If so, this is the course for you!

Designed specifically for therapists and healers like you, this comprehensive course will unravel the complexities of Polyvagal Theory, breaking down otherwise dense concepts into easy to understand concepts and easy to apply techniques.

Led by the internationally renowned trauma expert and Polyvagal Theory author Rebecca Kase, this six-hour course is your gateway to mastery of Polyvagal Theory. Prepare to embark on a fascinating journey as Rebecca expertly guides you through the intricate workings of the vagus nerve, vagal flexibility, and the autonomic nervous system. She will reveal how these components intertwine with clinical work and offer profound healing opportunities.

This non-EMDR specific course is eligible for anyone who wants to apply the concepts of Polyvagal Theory to their work as a healer or helper. This course qualifies for 6 CEs with NBCC.

Course Details

Our Principles of Polyvagal Theory course was designed to teach the core concepts of Polyvagal Theory to those who are helping people heal. You will learn the most important aspects of Polyvagal Theory as they related to emotional healing and trauma recovery.

The course will include a review of the development of Polyvagal Theory and review relevant criticisms of the model. We will explore the core principles of the model and break them down into useful concepts that can be applied to clinical work.

You will learn what the vagus nerve is and why it is so important when it comes to healing, trauma recovery, and helping people thrive. You will learn about the three autonomic pathways, and corresponding physical and psychological symptoms of each pathway.

We will do a deep dive into the concept of vagal tone, and you will learn why vagal flexibility is so important for health and wellness. By reviewing the concept of the vagal brake, you will also learn how to use specific skills and techniques to create a more flexible vagal brake and build autonomic resiliency.

We will also cover the social engagement system, what it is, and why it matters. You’ll learn how the social engagement system supports healing and why therapeutic presence is so important on a neurobiological level.

This course will cover theory and offer insights into corresponding interventions that align with neurobiology. You will learn how the nervous system works so you can work with it as a healer and a helper. With a newfound understanding of Polyvagal Theory you will be able to understand your clients, and yourself, on a much deeper level.

You’ll walk out of this course with skills to immediately apply to your practice, along with enhanced abilities to case conceptualize, plan interventions, and track outcomes of your work.
