Course Details

This course is for any EMDR therapist who wants to take their clinical work to a new level. If you’re in love with Polyvagal Theory, or are looking for a place to learn this model, this course is for you! We will review the basic principles of Polyvagal Theory and how to apply this knowledge to case conceptualization and treatment planning. We will review the power of the social engagement system and its role in therapy and EMDR-focused work. The concept of therapeutic presence will be explored and its clinical relevance to the counseling process. We will learn how to “warm up” EMDR therapy and why putting greater emphasis on the interpersonal relationship is key. You will learn several concrete Polyvagal informed interventions to prepare your clients for memory reprocessing. Participants will learn Rebecca Kase’s Preparation Hierarchy model, which offers a clear road map for identifying skills needed for reprocessing and determining client readiness for desensitization. We will review the many overlaps of Polyvagal Theory and AIP, and how to integrate this model throughout the 8 phases of EMDR therapy.

This innovative and creative course will leave you feeling supercharged with new and inspiring information. You’ll walk away with a number of concrete skills to integrate theory into practice, and help your clients heal!

While this book is not a required reading for the course it is a recommended resource.

Linking two cutting-edge approaches to form a robust healing model.

This is the first book to treat these topics together: assessing complex material and presenting it in an approachable, engaging manner.

Polyvagal Theory and EMDR are two well-respected theoretical and practical models with immense implications for therapeutic practice. Polyvagal-Informed EMDR outlines a comprehensive approach for integrating Polyvagal Theory into EMDR Therapy. Individually, each model offers powerful pathways to healing.
