We will review the basic principles of Polyvagal Theory and how to apply this knowledge to case conceptualization and treatment planning. We will review the power of the social engagement system and its role in therapy and EMDR-focused work. The concept of therapeutic presence will be explored. We will learn how to “warm up” EMDR therapy and why putting greater emphasis on interpersonal relationship is key. You will learn several concrete Polyvagal informed interventions to prepare your clients for memory reprocessing. Participants will learn Rebecca Kase’s “Preparation Hierarchy” model, which offers a clear road map for identifying skills needed for reprocessing and determining client readiness for desensitization.
