NON EMDR TRAINING
OCD Treatment and Interventions
Are you a trauma therapist finding it challenging to navigate the complexities of OCD in your clients?
Many therapists encounter OCD but feel uncertain about diagnosing it correctly or choosing the most effective treatment options. Our advanced training course on OCD treatment and interventions is designed to bridge this gap and equip you with the necessary skills to confidently address OCD, even when it co-occurs with PTSD.
In this course, you will delve deep into understanding OCD, exploring its symptoms, and differentiating it from other conditions like PTSD. You will learn about various evidence-based treatment modalities such as Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Inference-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT). Additionally, we will examine the integration of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in treating OCD, especially when combined with PTSD.
This course also covers the impact of OCD on family dynamics, providing insights into how OCD can affect those who live with or care for individuals with OCD. By understanding these dynamics, you can offer more comprehensive and effective treatment plans.
Our training environment is designed to be supportive and inclusive, fostering a shame-free space for learning. You will have the opportunity to engage with a community of like-minded professionals, share experiences, and gain insights from seasoned trainers who bring real-world expertise to the table.

Course Details
OCD treatment can often seem overwhelming for both clinicians and those with lived experience. It can also be complicated by co-occurring conditions such as PTSD. Trauma therapists often note that OCD can also negatively affect trauma treatment.
This advanced training will take an in-depth look at what OCD is, how to diagnose it, what clinical presentations look like in session, and what the research says about treatment options. Key terms and concepts related to OCD will reviewed and defined.
We will review co-occurring conditions with a special emphasis on the overlap in symptom presentations between PTSD and OCD. We will also explore Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Inference-based CBT (I-CBT) as treatment options. You will learn what the research currently states about EMDR and OCD, and how it might fit into the treatment of co-occurring OCD+PTSD. Participants will also learn how parts work and other emerging treatments could be beneficial adjuncts to first line treatments. We will identify how family accommodations affect OCD treatment and how OCD can shape family dynamics as well as the health of those who love someone with OCD.
Since OCD is a common co-occurring condition with PTSD and can interfere with trauma treatment itself, having a background knowledge about OCD is imperative for any trauma therapist . Whether trauma clinicians plan to treat OCD or not, it is important to know how to diagnose it and be familiar with evidence-based treatment options so that you can make an informed referral if needed.
