Course Details
This course focuses on intervention within phases 3-6 of the EMDR Protocol. Participants will review important components of case conceptualization as related to stuck points, as well as specific interventions to help facilitate successful reprocessing. We will cover topics such as: fidelity to the protocol, case conceptualization as related to stuck points, attunement skills and their importance within EMDR Therapy, feeder memories, blocking beliefs, and interweaves. We will review contraindications for EMDR reprocessing and how important the therapeutic relationship is in EMDR therapy. Trainees will learn the concept of Constricted Processing, and the techniques of EMDR & EMDr, as well as strategies for Fractionation of a Target.

- Review of AIP and how it applies to conceptualization and reprocessing.
- The autonomic nervous system and the Preparation Hierarchy; guides for determining readiness and creating treatment plans
- Signs you are stuck in reprocessing
- Therapeutic attunement, the role of the relationship in EMDR and how to warm it up.
- Dual awareness, screening for dissociation, & tips for maintaining dual awareness in reprocessing
- Feeder memories and blocking beliefs: what are they and how to work with them
- Fractionating a target: How to do it and when to do it
- EMD, EMDr: When and how to use
- Introduction to interweaves
- Interweave case vignettes and videos
- Taxing working memory techniques
- The Reflexive Orienting Technique
- Additional considerations for blocked processing: substances, dissociation, right fit.

Learning Objectives
- Describe the process for creating an informed EMDR treatment plan, and factors to consider in the process.
- Appraise the importance of therapeutic presence and attunement as they relate to clinical outcomes, and name at least 3 ways to attune in EMDR reprocessing phases.
- Analyze stuck points as related to treatment progression, and investigate at least 4 potential reasons a target may be blocked from fully reprocessing.
- Evaluate treatment planning techniques to work with complex targets, and apply advanced techniques for successful treatment outcomes.
- Examine fidelity of the EMDR protocol, and its treatment implications as well as contraindications.
- Apply interweaves skillfully in clinical sessions of EMDR reprocessing.
About Your Trainer, Rebecca Kase
Kase & CO Founder Rebecca Kase is recognized as one of the foremost EMDR trainers in the U.S. She is an LCSW, professional EMDR consultant and trainer, registered yoga teacher, and author of Polyvagal Informed EMDR: A Neuro-Informed Approach to Healing (2023). Rebecca has been practicing in the field of trauma counseling since 2006. She’s an expert in working with complex trauma and dissociation and has practiced in both nonprofit and private practice settings. In her own therapy practice, Rebecca incorporates yoga therapy, ego states, somatic approaches, Polyvagal Theory and EMDR into her work with clients, which includes veterans and adults with Complex PTSD. Rebecca is known as a skillful, clear and enthusiastic teacher. She’ll keep you engaged and make you giggle, even in an online trauma training course!

Prerequisites
To register for this course, you must have completed Parts 1 and 2 of EMDR Basic Training.
Continuing Education
6 CEs are available upon completion of all course material.
Kase & CO is an approved continuing education provider. ACE, APA, NBCC and EMDRIA CEs are available for this course.
Participants must complete the full training to receive credit.
Course Completion
To receive a CE certificate, participants must complete the entire course, complete the post-test with a score of 80% or above, and complete the course evaluation. You may retake the post-test as needed. Once completed, a CE certificate will auto-populate to your online account.
